Salem School Board to discuss change to spring break week

Moving spring break for Salem School from the week following Easter to the last week in March will be discussed by the Salem School Board Tuesday evening.

The initiative to change the date was proposed by the school’s teachers union, said district administrator David Milz.

Easter falls particularly late in the spring next year, on April 24, which would make spring break April 22 through April 30 following the typical schedule.

Concern about Salem changing its spring break week would most likely arise fr0m families with children at both Salem School and Central High School.

Central High School recently set its calendar for the next school year with the traditional spring break week, though there was some brief discussion about the lateness of Easter.

The Salem PTO sent out an email this weekend alerting its members to the possibility of a change and the expected decision at Tuesday’s board meeting.

The board will meet at 7 p.m. in the school’s large group instruction room.
