Paris residents may remember this as the year of the alternate route.
Attendees at the town’s annual meeting Tuesday night learned that several major routes through the town will be in a state of construction for large parts of the summer.
John Holloway, plan commission chariman, outlined the following list:
- Resurfacing of Highway 45 from Highway 11 to the north in Racine County south to Highway 50. That would include the road’s entire path through Paris.
- Highway 142 from Highway UE east to Interstate 94 for new Frontage Road construction.
- Grinding and rebuilding of Highway KR from Crystal Lane to Highway 45. This project, being done by Racine County, should keep at least one lane open, Holloway said.
- The town may be doing some work on 144th Avenue as well.
Adding to the aggravation for town residents will be the closing of Highway N east of the interstate for utility work. Many town residents use that highway as a route to Kenosha.
“Traveling is going to be at a premium,” said town Chairman Virgil Gentz.
Gentz also reported that markers — large removable X’s — have been put on some properties along Highway 45 for aerial surveying the town plans to do along that highway.
That survey is not related to this summer’s work, Gentz said, but is needed for a unspecified future project.
