A food drive to benefit The Sharing Center organized by county Supervisor-elect Mike Underhill last weekend brought in 411 pounds of food and $112 in cash.
Underhill defeated Terry Burns Tuesday in the Dist. 23 county supervisor race.
About the food drive, Underhill said in a written statement:
I would like to thank everyone who came out in the rain to donate food, cash and checks for the food drive Saturday April 3, 2010 in the Lakeside Supervalu parking lot. Thanks to Glenda Dupons and her office Bear Realty for giving us permission to use the parking lot. Thanks to Decorating by Lee for the use of the van to keep the food safe and dry. Thanks to all my friends and coworkers who drove out from the city of Kenosha and people in the community that came out to donate. Thanks to Karan Rasmussen and her staff for being at the Sharing Center to receive the food, since they are normally closed on Saturdays. Thanks to the new administrator of the Sharing Center, Lynn Biese, for her help making this happen. Special thanks to my girlfriend Cheryl for standing in the cold and rain.
Underhill said he plans to make the food drive an annual event.
