The Paris Town Board is looking for a new clerk/treasurer in the wake of the departure of Linda Terry for a job with another municipality.

Tuesday, the board appointed Betty Price as deputy clerk and approved the deputy clerk taking over the duties of the clerk/treasurer while a decision is made regarding permanently filling the position.

Town Chairman Virgil Gentz said several people, including Price, have applied for the clerk/treasurer job.

Through the  meeting, all of the Town Board wished Terry well, but there was some kidding about whether they could still talk to her because her new job is in Racine County.

“I wish her (Terry) well,” Gentz said. “It’s a full-time job with full-time benefits.”

The Paris clerk/treasurer works three days a week and the first Saturday of the month, when Town Hall is open for public business.
