Salem town supervisor results

Preliminary results from the Salem town supervisor primary show Eileen DelMonico and Peter DeRidder being eliminated from the April ballot.

Two people from the field of six were to be trimmed by today’s primary.

Counting of results in Salem likely has been complicated by ballot problems discovered today, in which some voters were instructed to vote for too many candidates.

Receiving the most votes so far, according to the county clerk’s office, is incumbent Dennis Faber with 54.

Former supervisor and town chairman Diann Tesar received 48 votes.

Dan Campion received 46 votes.

Incumbent Jo Weidman received 38 votes.

DeRidder and Del Monico received 32 and 22 votes respectively.

The top two vote getters in the April 6 election will fill seats on the Town Board.

UPDATE 10:11 p.m. — New results from the county have scrambled the order of the top finishers, but still have DeRidder and Del Monico not making the cut for the April ballot.

UPDATE 10:13 p.m. — Final unofficials results, according to the county, are:

  • Tesar 204.
  • Faber 171.
  • Campion 155.
  • Weidman 152.

Those four will appear on the April ballot. Eliminated Tuesday were:

  • DeRidder 89.
  • Del Monico 64.
