Randall School Board members got a peek at what their open enrollment picture is looking like so far.
District administrator Steve Bloom said at Wednesday’s School Board meeting that as of 2:30 p.m. the school had received about 47 applications for open enrollment to attend Randall and nine applications for Randall students to attend elsewhere.
The school can continue to accept open enrollment applications through Feb. 19. Bloom said he would come back to the board with recommendations on accepting students next month.
However, the issue will not be completely settled until June, when parents have to make a final decision on whether their children will attend schools where they have been accepted for open enrollment.
Open enrollment allows public school students who reside in one district to attend school tuition free in another district, if accepted. School districts often try to encourage incoming open enrollment to increase per student state aid.
“We have been advantaged by open enrollment in a number of ways, including financial,” Bloom said.
