The modular classrooms in which some classes are held at Wilmot Primary Center have received approval from the county to be used for at least another year.
District administrator George Steffen reported to the Trevor-Wilmot School Board said the county Board of Adjustment earlier this month approved extending the variance that allows use of the units.
Wilmot Primary Center principal Theresa Curley represented the district before the Board of Adjustments.
“They didn’t really flinch,” Curley said of the board. “They were happy to hear we are working toward not needing them.”
With the successful passage of a building referendum last year, the Wilmot building — and the modulars — will be phased out when a large addition to the district’s other building in Trevor is completed.
Students in grades 4k through second currently attend classes at the Wilmot building.
The original variance that allowed the use of the modulars was for five years, Steffen said.
