Why are boaters charged launch fees to use the Department of Natural Resources launch on Powers Lake and not people who park in the same lot to ice fish on the lake?
That question was asked during citizens comments at last week’s Randall Town Board meeting by Charles Gitzinger.
“It’s just as crowded now,” Gitzinger said. “All the spaces are filled.”
It should be noted that Gitzinger, while just a audience member that night, is the town’s municipal judge and Plan Commission chairman.
Chairman Bob Stoll said he was not sure a fee could be charged for parking at the launch in the winter, but that he would check on the possibilities with the DNR.
For those who might quibble with the distinction between a fee for launching and a fee for parking, Gitzinger pointed out that technically violators of the launch fee requirement are given parking tickets.
