Couple recognized for work to get tennis grant

Central High School’s tennis coaches Pat and Paul Brings were recently recognized by the School Board for their contributions to the school’s fledgling tennis program.

The couple, who started the school’s tennis programs and also started a community tennis organization, worked with the United States Tennis Association to apply for a grant to help build facilities, said Kris Allison, athletic director. The school received $35,000 towards its new court, which are under construction.

The Brings also are running clinics and camps for grade school students to create an interest in tennis.
