A Salem School fourth grade teacher fell and hit her head on a countertop in her classroom today. She was transported to the hospital and received stitches for a head cut, said district administrator. She was later released and was resting at home this afternoon.
“We are really cautious with head injuries,” district administrator David Milz said.
The teacher’s class was in the room at the time of the accident, a letter home from K-5 Principal Shawn Waller said. Students were moved to another room while rescue workers responded. They had a substitute teacher for the rest of the day.
One student called the nurse and another called the office in wake of the accident, as the injured teacher asked them to.
If needed, counseling is available for students who witnessed the accident, Waller’s letter said.
