Paris School staffers go hippie for a day

If you were at Paris School yesterday morning you might have thought you were time-warped back to the’60s. But those hippies you might have seen in the hallway were really school reading specialist Margie Blair, teacher Josh Pye and district administrator Roger Gahart dressed as hippies as part of a day of rewards for students for reaching their goal in the Our School Cares About Reading program.

Here’s some video of the trio visiting Sabrina Scifres’ second grade classroom yesterday morning:

Overall, the 182 students in the program had a goal of reading 2,300 books and actually read 2,532. Scifries second grade class read the most books — over 752.

The actual tally may have been higher. “They stopped counting after a while,” Gahart said.

In addition to the hippie visit, students school wide also got to see a movie with popcorn yesterday, Gahart said.
