Participants in the Antioch Police Department's Shop With a Cop program recieve a gift for themselves before going off to shop for others. These toys for the children were donated by the Mattel Toy Store in Wilmot.
The Mattel Toy Store in Wilmot was one of the sponsors of this year’s Shop With A Cop program hosted by the Antioch Police Department.
Mattel donated toys that were given to the selected children before they headed out to Wal-Mart to spend money on others for holiday gifts.
“We were happy to participate in this great cause that helps so many kids during such an important time of the year. Any time a local organization steps up like this to help out children, we want to be a part of it,” said Jolene Dahmen, manager of the Wilmot Mattel Toy Store.
The Antioch Police Department along with its sponsors, Wal-Mart Super Center of Antioch, Raymond Chevrolet , Antioch Pizza, Body Craft Inc, Antioch F.O.P. Lodge #210, and Mattel Toy Store, hosted the sixth annual “Shop with a Cop†program on Wednesday.
The Antioch Police Department and the Antioch School District identified needful families with children between the ages of 5 and 12 years of age. The Police Department invites these children along with their parents or legal guardians to the station for a pizza party, Christmas caroling and Christmas presents donated by Mattel Toy Store.
The kids were then loaded up into police squad cars and transport vehicles donated by Raymond Chevrolet. The procession made a short stop at Raymond Chevrolet where the kids will receive more gifts. Then it was on to Wal-Mart for shopping. After shopping, there were photos with Santa and Christmas treats provided by Wal-Mart.
