Paddock Lake has contracted with an outside firm for domestic animal control services.
For a number of years the village has not had a designated animal control officer. Sometimes, village public works employees have handled those duties when needed, but none of them are certified for that sort of work.
The selected firm is Claws and Paws, which submitted a proposal with a $3,000 annual retainer and a $50 per catch charge during typical weekday business hours and $60 per catch outside of regular weekday.
Building inspector Tim Popanda said the firm will be able to relay detailed information that should help the village recover the fees from animal owners whose pets are found.
