Salem Booster Club win radio fundraising contest

The Salem Booster Club will have a pair of Chicago sports radio hosts helping them raise funds.

salem-booster-club-webLast month, the club entered a contest sponsored by The 670 Score Radio WSCR-AM, explained John Philippi, club president. The club just received notice that it was a winner.

All the Score radio hosts read letters submitted by schools and picked their favorites to adopt. Team Mully and Hanley will be collecting donations on behalf of the Salem Booster Club during their broadcast from Union Station, Chicago, from 5 to 9 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 9. The donations will then be used by the club to purchase sporting equipment

The Salem Booster Club was formed earlier this year after extracurricular clubs and sports were cut from the Salem School District budget after a fourth failed referendum in four tries. The club operates the school’s sports and activities through volunteers and private fundraising.
