If you’re a Silver Lake resident and you have not made a decision about what kind of recycling container you’d like you’re running out of time.
Decisions on the containers need to be made before Dec. 4, village Clerk Terry Faber said at Wednesday’s Village Board meeting.
Examples of the new size containers have been at Village Hall for months, and were displayed elsewhere as well around town. Residents can pick between 99-, 65- and 35-gallon sizes. Examples are still at Village Hall.
After the new containers are delivered, recycling will only be picked up every other week, a cost saving move for the village. Village Trustee Susan Gerber estimated the new containers may be delivered in January.
The village needs to notify its garbage hauler, Veolia Environmental, about how many of each container are needed by Friday.
The start of the new program has been delayed about two months from when it was originally projected to start, village President Roger Johnson said.
