Dave Thoss filed these photos and this report on Tuesday’s Central boys basketball game:
Central opened the 2009-2010 season at Shoreland Lutheran falling 37-27 to the Pacers in Somers. The young Falcons showed a little rust in getting off to a slow start in the first quarter, trailing 10-4. The Falcons failed to improve in the second stanza, with cold shooting and trailed 17-8 at halftime. However, in the the second half the Falcons, after falling behind by double figures, closed it to within 5 points in the final quarter behind the outside shooting of Mike Michelau. The sophomore guard hit two long three-pointers and hit a baseline jumper to finish with a game high 8 points. In addition, some pressure defense by senior Dustin Milz, Michelau and a spark from Timmy Clark, kept the Falcons close. However, the Falcons gave up a layup and a free throw that allowed the Pacers to open up their lead to hold on to the victory. Central was led by Michelau with 8, followed by Austin Damaschke and Erik Richter with 5 points apiece. Dustin Milz led the Falcons with 5 rebounds, followed by Michelau’s 3 boards.
Central plays the Bradford Red Devils in the Falcon home opener December 5 in Paddock Lake.
