At 9:24 p.m., units from Salem Fire/Rescue and Bristol Fire Department are responding to a report of a garage fire in the 23600 block of 81st St., Salem.
Someone had a car on a battery charger in the garage, radio transmissions said. When they went to the garage to check on the vehicle, they found the structure on fire.
The garage is not attached to a house and no one is in the garage, according to scanner transmissions.
UPDATE 9:26 p.m. — First unit on scene reports that light smoke is showing from the garage.
UPDATE 9:41 p.m. — Fire “knocked down,” according to radio transmissions.
UPDATE 9:46 p.m. — Some units returning to quarters.
