Highway B and 50 intersection work behind schedule

The latest estimated completion date is Dec. 4 for the Highways B and 50 intersection work.

The delay has been due to poor soil conditions and wet weather, said Dennis Shook, Wisconsin Department of Transportation spokesman.

The project, which cost an estimated $1.7 million, is adding traffic signals, improved left-turn lanes and other changes to the intersection.

The project started in July. Initially the inner lanes were closed. Since late September, the outer lanes have been closed, effectively blocking off access to Silver Lake from Highway 50.

The original projection was for the project to be completed by the end of November.

I don’t think it’s because of wet weather. Maybe I’m the only one who has been paying attention, but about a month and a half ago (you know, when the weather was NICE) I would drive past and see NO ONE WORKING!!!!!!! I mean, really??? NO ONE WORKING!!!! Thats why they are behind. Because no one works…. I bet they’re not even out there right now, while it is sunny and 60 today on November 21st!!! Thats just ridiculous.. Now they may not be done till next spring because the weather will not get any better!!!!!! THIS SUCKS!!!
