Wilmot High School students and staff honored the service of U.S. veterans today with a breakfast and ceremony at the school.
The ceremony, attended by the entire student body, took place in the fieldhouse. It included a keynote speech by LTC Richard Borkowski, musical performances by school choir and band groups. A highlight was the veteran procession, shown in the video below:
Here teacher Marline Tilsner, a veteran of the National Guard, gives an explanation of the history and meaning of Veterans Day:
I think it is great that schools are involved with honoring veterans. I now live in Bristol VA and not one school has anything involving Veterans Day. It is a shame that the students don’t realize how many veterans there are involved in their every day lives.
