The Western Kenosha County Transit system will be adding Salem Town Hall on Highway 83 (Antioch Road) as an additional bus stop after action by the Town Board Monday.
The transit system was seeking the new stop in order to provide better service to and from Antioch. The service has recently added routes to Antioch to meet more Metra trains there. It was suggested that the bus could stop at Town Hall while it passed by on those additional routes, said Carolyn Feldt, the transit’s system’s director.
Some supervisors were concerned about the Town Hall, since it has a parking lot, becoming an in effect “park and ride” stop, where people will park at the facility and then take the bus. They were concerned that such an arrangement might tax Town Hall parking.
Ultimately, a motion was made and passed unanimously to give the stop a six-month trial. The motion was approved unanimously.
