The Paris School Board certified a total tax levy Monday that was largely the same as that approved by district electors at the August annual meeting.
The certified levy was $2,190,555 — about $4,000 more than approved at the annual meeting.
District administrator Roger Gahart explained the corresponding mill rate had to be adjusted slightly higher than that presented at the annual meeting ( an additional .000022097) to accommodate a decrease in district assessed valuation received by the district earlier this month. The annual meeting was held in August.
Here’s an info sheet supplied by Gahart.
The levy is up by about 28 percent over last year, mostly due to the authority granted by a successful June referendum to exceed the state-imposed revenue limit .
