Wilmot High School will present Neil Simon’s comedy “Fools” on Thursday, Nov. 5 at 7 p.m., Friday, Nov. 6 at 7 p.m, and Saturday, Nov. 7 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. in the school’s auditorium.
The play takes place in the cursed Ukrainian village of Kulyenchikov 100 years ago. The curse? For 200 years every villager has suffered the curse of absolute and unremitting foolishness. Snetsky, the town shepherd not only can’t find his “two dozen (14)” sheep, he can’t even find his own first name.
Into this village of fools comes Leon Tolchinsky, an idealistic young school teacher portrayed by Kerry John Kerros, who rushes in like a Peace Corp poster boy to save the village from the curse. Leon is lured to the village by a totally misspelled advertisement placed by the town’s intellectual, Dr. Zubritsky, portrayed by Zach Van Den Berge, to educate the doctor’s daughter, Sophia, played by Hannah Greisen and Taylor Lear, and rid the village of its curse. Leon, of course, falls madly in love with this damsel sporting the IQ of a cabbage. Other cast members include Bridget Traverso, Jessica LaRocca, Ryan Jaslowski, Kyle Carpenter, Brandon Kempf, Melvin Merkel, Michael Martino, Cory Marx, Jon Phelps, Connor Grayson, Aaron Rathbone, Sarah Sherman, Amanda Barth, Erica Rogness, Tiffany Dumont, Kylie Arena, Megan Robinson, Kasey Galek, Ryan Edquist, Vanessa Howell, Lauren Nowicki, Victoria Manlove, Victoria Howell and Miranda Webb.
The ticket price is $5 and will be sold at the door beginning one hour before each performance.
