A resident presented to the Salem Town Board a petition asking that three-way stops be established on 256th Avenue at 100th and 93rd streets.
Jennifer Donat, speaking during citizens comments, contended motorists regularly exceed the posted speed limit of 35 mph. Donat lives on the road and circulated the petition among her neighbors.
“It’s a very dangerous road,” Donat said. “Many animals have lost their lives out there.”
The building of the community park on 256th Avenue has heightened her concern, Donat said.
“I think it’s way too dangerous,” Donat said.
In the future, Donat said, a stop sign might be needed at the park entracne as well, a point mentioned in her petition.
The board does not act on items addressed in citizens commetns unless they are already elsewhere on the agenda.
