First Christian Church will be collecting donations of food and money for The Sharing Center on Oct. 18.
The church has committed to helping and partnering with The Sharing Center. October is a slow time for donations and the shelves at the center are low.
Every month, the center provides 7,000 pounds of food to area families. Of the 7,000 pounds, 2,000 pounds are provided by government funding, the rest comes from the community. The public can donate food or money (the center can purchase food from Second Harvest at $.19 per pound). The church has a goal of providing 5,000 pounds of food for the center.
The Sharing Center is a community-supported, faith-based organization that provides needed services and goods to families that reside in Western Kenosha County . They provide help and hope to people on their way to independence.
The Sharing Center is home to a food pantry and clothing closet (which includes household items such as dishes, pots, pans, linens and towels). They also have a referral program for those who need additional assistance.

First Christian Church is located on Wilmot Road (Highway C) just west of I-94. Road construction currently makes it difficult to reach the church from the east, but the road is open from the west.
