Panthers go on the Prowl

corn search

This game at the Panther Prowl involved digging through a tub of corn to find toy dinosaurs.

The third annual Panther Prowl took place Saturday at Paris School.

The event, based around a walkathon, has evolved into a major fundraiser for the Paris School Organization, which funds projects to enhance the school experience. Funds raised this year are earmarked for further improvements to the school library and technology improvements.

The prowl itself took place on a course outlined on the grass with striping and pumpkins and seasonal decorations. Music kept the troops motivated.

Besides the walk, there were other activities on the grounds including kids games, food, a bake sale, a silent auction and a 50/50 raffle. A sponge throw with volunteers victims familiar to the school children, drew a lot of attention as well.

We had to leave before the actual walking began, but here are some photos of the preliminaries:

Perhaps the most popular target at teh sponge toss was ultimate school authority figure Roger Gahart, district administrator. Gahart kept up a steady banter with his young tormenters, including qwips such as; "You throw like Brett Favre. Be nice to your old principal. I saw you play t-ball; I'm scarred. You're gonna want to graduate from here someday; I get to signb that diploma."

There was a lot to look over on the silent auction tables.

There was plenty of merchandise to purchase to show your Panther spirit.

And don’t forget the patrons and sponsors of the event.
