The Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department is making a notification of the release into Bristol of convicted sex offender Torrence Smothers.

Smothers was convicted of first degree sexual assault. He will be placed in the community today, after having been released from prison in March. He will be residing within a half mile of Highway MB and Highway 50, and is on the short-range electronic monitoring system, a Sheriff’s Department sex offender information bulletin said.

Smothers has been ordered to have no unsupervised contact with minors, no taverns, bars or liquor stores. He is to have no contact with his victim and is not to consume alcohol or drugs.

Smothers is not wanted by the Sheriff’s Department at this time.

“This notification is not intended to alarm the community, but rather it is our belief that an informed community is a safer community,” the Sheriff’s Department bulletin says.
