The Salem Fire Department, at 7:40 p.m., is responding to a report of a fire in a backyard in the 6400 block of 238th Avenue, Paddock Lake.
The person who reported the fire said it might be a bonfire, but wanted it checked out. They were looking at the fire from across Paddock Lake.
UPDATE 7:45 p.m.: Fire personnel at the lakefront are not finding a fire yet.
UPDATE 7:48 p.m.: Still no fire spotted. Some units leaving scene. Fire personnel may go to home of person who reported fire to double check.
UPDATE 7:58 p.m.: All Salem fire units returning to station. Upon consultation with the person who reported the fire, it appears what the person saw may have been the reflection of a lighted flag.
