Units responding to struck gas main

At 10:42 a.m., emergency units are responding to the report of a struck gas main along Highway C, about 800 feet west of Quality Carriers, Bristol.

We Energies has been notified, according to scanner transmissions.

The strike was reported by a contractor working in the area.

UPDATE 10:53 a.m.: Gas company representative on the scene.

UPDATE Sept. 4: We received the following statement from We Energies spokesman Brian Manthey about the above incident: “We were called for a hit gas main at about 10:45 a.m. Thursday at New Frontage Road and Highway C. We had the flow of gas to the break pinched off at 11:05 a.m. The line was a 2-inch natural gas main. Two customers lost natural gas service due to the hit. Repairs were completed and service was restored yesterday afternoon.”
