Motorcycle, car crash victims identified

The victims of a deadly motorcycle, car crash yesterday have been identified.

Christopher M. Spease, 32, of Oak Creek, the driver of the motorcycle, died at the scene of the accident. His passenger, Julie A. Schmidt, 32, of Burlington, was seriously injured and is reported in stable condition, said Sgt. Gil Benn, Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department spokesman.

The crash occurred at 12:07 p.m., Thursday in the 4400 block of Highway JR, near University of Wisconsin-Parkside. The collision involved a motorcycle with two riders and a car). Kenosha sheriff’s investigators report that the motorcycle was westbound on Highway JR from Outer Loop Road when the eastbound vehicle turned left in front of the cyclists. The motorcycle struck the vehicle broadside. The driver of the vehicle was attempting to turn left into a parking lot at Petrifying Springs County Park. He was alone in the car.

Spease was ejected from the cycle and died at the scene. Schmidt was also ejected and sustained life threatening injuries. She was taken by medical helicopter to Froedtert Hospital were she remains in critical condition. Neither was wearing a helmet.

The operator of the vehicle was uninjured. He is cooperating with investigators and submitting to voluntary blood tests for investigative purposes, Benn said.

    That is my step brother, I loved him very much and i miss him even more i think when people read this they will think twice because its not just some guy that dies because of irresponsible driving, that guy ran a red light and pulled out in front of Chris and now he is gone and now his wife and tweo daughters are alone, without him forever.
