Property owners in Silver Lake, take a look at your grass.
If it’s over 8 inches high you might want to get it mowed — soon.
The Village Board Wednesday passed an ordinance that sets the maximum grass and weed height in the village at 8 inches. Let it grow longer and the village will ask you to cut it. If you don’t cut it, the village will and send you a bill. Ignore that too and the village will attach the the charge to your tax bill.
Other municipalities have similar laws. Twin Lakes, for example, recently set its noxious weeds and grass height at 12 inches.
