The Paris School Board made a couple of personnel moves at this week’s regular board meeting:
- Former teacher Judy Folkers was hired for a technology support position. She will typically work about 10 hours a week, said Roger Gahart, district administrator. Folkers is very familiar with the school’s computer network, Gahart said, having been involved with it since the first computer came to the school. Her $15 per hour rate will be considerably lower than that charged by an outside firm, Gahart said. However, the school will still work with another company for larger computer issues as needed. That hourly rate would be as much as three times higher than Folkers’ wage, Gahart estimated. Hiring Folkers in the new capacity passed 5 to 0.
- John Seybold will serve as school psychologist on an as needed basis at a rate of $55 per hour. Last year, Paris contracted with the local Cooperative Educational Service Agency for a part-time psychologist who was assigned to the district one day per week. Gahart said he expects the new arrangement to result in cost savings due to an anticipated lighter load for the position this year. “It’s certainly not going to cost us more,” Gahart said. Contracting with Seybold passed 5 to 0.
