Defendant in murder trial dead

Sheriff’s deputies are investigating the apparent hanging death of Steven Bringsosen Jr. of  Bristol, who has been on trial for the death of his infant  nephew.

At 7:37a.m., Friday, sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to an address in the  7100 block of 184th Ave., in Bristol on a report of a person hanging. Upon their arrival, deputies discovered family members performing CPR on a 28-year-old man, who was immediately identified as Bringsosen, said Sgt. Gil Benn, sheriff’s department spokesman. Reportedly, Bringsosen was found by a family member hanging in the basement of the residence.

Bristol Rescue transported Bringsosen to St. Catherine’s Hospital, Pleasant Prairie, where he was pronounced dead at 8:21 a.m. by the attending ER physician, Benn said.

Bringsosen was the defendant in ongoing murder trial of his nephew. The trial was to have continued today at 8:30 a.m. today.

Bringsosen had been residing at the residence after being bonded out of Kenosha County Jail on the original homicide charge, Benn said.

This death remains under investigation.
