The Sheriff’s Department is looking for information regarding a man who a Paddock Lake resident says attempted to rob him at gunpoint.
The Sheriff’s Department received the report at about 2:30 p.m., Wednesday. The victim said a dark-skinned Hispanic male described as perhaps 30 years old, 5 feet 8 inches in height, of medium build, wearing a light blue surgical style mask, dark blue polo shirt, black short pants and black tennis shoes with no socks, rode a black mountain bike into the victim’s driveway after the victim drove into his garage in the 24600 block of 74th Street.
The victim reportedly saw that the man, who was now off of his bike, had a pistol, described by the victim as a Beretta 9mm. The suspect was coming toward the victim saying in a Hispanic accent, “Give me your money,” said Sgt. Gil Benn, Sheriff’s Department spokesman. The victim went to a tool box where he kept a Glock model 26, 9mm pistol, loaded with four rounds in the magazine, and got into a fight with the suspect. The victim was reported to have given the suspect at least one punch to his face. The suspect was reported to have held his pistol to the victim’s throat demanding money ultimately taking the victim’s pistol and leaving, pedaling quickly away, west on 74th Street, Benn said.
There was some delay before the victim reported the incident using his cell phone. Squads checked the surround areas, but were unable to find the suspect, Benn said. Information has been given to area agencies.
