Fire at Pheasant Run landfill

Firefighters from four departments responded to a report of a fire at the Pheasant Run landfill in Paris at about 10:12 p.m.

Units from Paris, Bristol, Pleasant Prairie and Somers responded.

A water supply was established at a pond on the southeast end of the property.

Because the fire was in the interior of the sprawling property, no traffic on adjoining roads was diverted or blocked.

Firefighters seemed to be concentrated high on the landfill, visible from the roads to the east and north of the property.

The fire was reported by a neighbor to the property.

A Waste Management employee contacted by emergency crews said nothing was supposed to be burning at the site.

The fire was called under control at 11:06 by Paris command, but units were still on the scene at 11:30 p.m.
