Gerald Wrench was recognized with a special award for his work with the Twin Lakes Rehabilitation and Protection District at the group’s annual meeting and budget hearing Saturday morning at Wilmot High School.
Wrench thanked district leaders for the honor, but humbly deflected the limelight from himself.
“This is just a result of the new process that we have in Twin Lakes. The whole process has changed and that’s why you are here today,” Wrench said to the about 100 people that attended the meeting in the school’s auditorium.
Lake District Chairman Bob Livingston explained that Wrench was instrumental in a change of process and philosophy in the lake district that opened it to more balance between environmental and recreational use interests. He cited his work and energy in a number of lake district projects through recent years, including pinpointing pollution sources and lake level management.
“Jerry has always come in the nick of time to help us,” Livingston said. “He helped to get a lot of people active and educated.
“He’s going to be missed …” Livingston said. He added he expected Wrench to be moving out of the area full-time in the future.
