The above map shows the location of Shadow Hill Ranch.
The Shadow Hill Ranch, best known as the home of the annual country music festival Country Thunder USA, got the approval Thursday of the Randall Plan Commission and Town Board to expand its entertainment offerings.
Richard Baak, owner of the property, has been working on town and county approval for a plan to begin offering car shows, craft shows and a farmers’ market at the property.
In general, the plan would be to have car shows on Friday evenings and crafts shows/farmers markets on the weekend, Baak said. There will be an admission fee to the events and some camping will take place on the grounds.
The conditional use permit application approved by the Plan Commission and Town Board Thursday would be for 2009. The permit also needs county approval.
Baak said he would like to get all needed approvals and start having events yet this year. They could continue into the fall with good weather.
If the car, crafts and farmers market events were held again next year, they would not take place the weekend before Country Thunder and the weekend of the music festival.
The permit only applies to the Shadow Hill Ranch property, not adjacent properties used for Country Thunder.
