If you’re looking to buy a lottery ticket this week, you might get a Twin Lakes police officer to do it for you.
The department has an impressive lucky streak going when it comes to the state’s “Click it or Ticket” campaign annual drawing.
Police departments from around the state that participate in the annual seat belt enforcement campaign over the Fourth of July holiday are entered into a drawing.
For the third year in a row, Twin Lakes has come up with a $4,000 traffic enforcement equipment grant in the drawing, it was reported at Monday’s Village Board meeting.
Chief Dale R. Racer already has plans for the money.
“The current traffic grant funds will go towards the purchase of two new digital in-squad cameras,” Racer explained. “Along with this grant and funds from a previous grant this will give us enough funds to make the purchase to include the computer soft/hardware and training.
“With the new camera everything will be computerized,” Racer said. “Currently all four of our uniform squads have analog in-squad cameras, and we need to update and be more efficient, thus starting out with two digital cameras. And then hopefully the village will set aside capital expenditures over the next two years, which will give us one digital in-squad camera per year to ensure all four of our uniform squads have the new equipment and updates by the end of 2011.”
