Anticipation of reduced revenue from all sources has Paddock Lake village President Marlene Goodson asking her fellow board members to consider enacting a wage freeze for themselves and all village employees for the coming budget year.
Goodson made the request that trustees begin considering the move when they start to formulate department budgets. She made the request at Wednesday’s Village Board meeting.
Any freeze would be temporary and intended to help the village deal with anticipated reduced revenue from the state and from property taxes, she said.
“In an effort to not cut public programs … we’re going to have to chew away at a number of things,” Trustee Terry Burns said. “I don’t think wages” should be exempt.
