Central High School’s quest for a traffic signal to be placed at a new entrance and exit it is building that connects school property with Highway 83 south of Highway 50 has won the support of the Salem Town Board.
Town Chairman Linda Valentine said last week that she would write a letter supporting the placing of a traffic signal there, after the board seemed to support the idea at a Town Board meeting.
Town administrator Patrick Casey said the school requested the show of support.
A study of traffic suggested volume at the site was not sufficient for a signal, Casey said.
But town officials seemed to disagree.
“I would totally agree some kind of signal is warranted there,” Casey said.
School officals want to persuade the state to place a signal despite the study.
