There will be a lot of appreciating going on in the Bumper to Bumper Plaza Saturday.
The businesses located there will be hosting a customer appreciation event, designed to say thank you to people who have bought their goods and services.
But perhaps more importantly, the event will also serve as a drop-off point for people to contribute to a support our troops overseas drive. Comfort items will be collected and then assembled into care packages for military personnel serving in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Examples of the types of items being collected are:
- Beef jerky.
- Snacks like granola bars and trail mix.
- Baby wipes.
- Chapstick (spf 15).
- Sunscreen.
- Cards and letters of encouragement and support.
- Paperback books.
- Stationary.
The customer appreciation aspect of the event will include a motorcycle stunt show, a classic car show, Boy Scouts selling brats and hot dogs and shopping specials.
The event will run from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Bumper to Bumper Plaza is located at 27640 75th St., Salem.
