An ATV safety course will be offered by the Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department on June 15 and 16 starting at 8 a.m., at the County Center, Highways 50 and 45, Bristol.
The course will be taught by Lt. Shannon Rawson, a Wisconsin DNR certified ATV Safety Course instructor. The course will cover ATV safety features, pre-ride inspections, basic riding skills, safety features, protective gear, rules and regulations, ethics, responsibility and handling outdoor emergencies.
Individuals successfully completing the course will receive an ATV safety graduate certificate and will be able to legally operate an ATV A safety certificate is required for operators at least 12 years old and born on or after Jan. 1, 1988. Those students who have not reached the age of 12 may not use their certificate and operate alone until they turn 12. There is no maximum age for the course, and parents and adults are also encouraged to enroll and participate.
