Two local organizations want to bring a fall festival back to Twin Lakes.
Dubbed Twin Lakes Fall Festivus (For the Rest of Us), the three-day event would run Sept. 11, 12 and 13. It is being organized by Twin Lakes American Legion Post 544 and Genoa City Red Dogs, an adult men’s baseball team.
Tentative plans call for the event to include an eight-team softball tournament, a horseshoe tournament, a bags tournament, a chili cook-off, live bands on Friday evening and all-day Saturday, food and beverages all three days and a 5K run Sunday morning.
The festivities would take place at Legion Park, if approved, said Todd Erickson, representing American Legion Post 544.
The festival would shut down Friday and Saturday at midnight, Erickson said. On Sunday, it would close at the end of the softball tournament,.
The 5K run course would start in front of the legion post, go west on Legion Drive, north on Lake Street, west of Holy Hill Road, south on Burlington Avenue, east on West Main Street, south on South Lake Street east on Legion Drive and finish back at the post.
The post will request a three-day fermented beverages license for the festival, Erickson said.
The organizers will be required to purchase liability insurance to use the village’s park.
