The Sheriff’s Department squad car that patrols Bristol has received an extra piece of equipment that could help save a life.
Bristol fire Chief Peter Parker recently reported to the Bristol Town Board that an automatic heart defibrillator that was purchased by the Bristol Firemen’s Association was installed in the squad car.
The town contracts with the Sheriff’s Department for extra targeted patrol.
The defibrillator cost about $1,600, Parker said. It could help deputies treat heart attack patients if they arrive on the scene of a medical call before rescue personnel.
