A rezoning approval by the Bristol Town Board Wednesday will allow a beekeeper to build a honey processing facility on his property.

Mark Harger, of Grayslake, Ill., said he lives part-time on the property on the west side of Highway U and north of Highway WG. He has been keeping bees at the property for a while, but not processing honey there.

“To resell honey, you have to have a USDA approved facility,” Harger said.

The rezoning was needed because a portion of his property was zoned as an upland resource conservancy district.  Harger said that portion was once a tree farm.

The rezoning designated the land as a general agricultural district.
