Ceremonies, parades to honor military heroes

There are several west of the I events to remember military heros this Memorial Day weekend.

On Friday morning, Trevor Grade School will be recognizing Memorial Day at 9:30 a.m. All community members are encouraged to join in honoring those who made the ultimate sacrifice to defend and protect our freedom. Students will be recognizing their friends or family who have died while serving in the armed forces by submitting a picture along with their name, honoree’s name, rank, branch of service, and the war or conflict in which they were participating.

On Saturday the Wisconsin Society Sons of the American Revolution will honor David “Blind David’ Paddock at a ceremony at Liberty Corners Cemetery, south of Highway C on Highway 83, at 11 a.m.

On Monday, there will be parades in Silver Lake at 9 a.m. and in Twin Lakes at 11 a.m. Both will have ceremonies afterwards at the American Legion halls in those villages.
