Musial Road launch to stay open — with fee

A fee box will be added to the landscape at the Musial Beach launch. The Twin Lakes Village Board decided Monday to begin charging the standard launch fees for the Musial site.

Boaters will still be able to launch their vessels at the end of Musial Road.

But launchers there also will now have to pay the same fees as charged at the village’s other Lake Elizabeth launch, which is a substantially more improved facility, said David Cox, village administrator. Currently, no fee is collected at the Musial launch.

The Village Board took the action on the launch fee at Monday’s meeting. At a previous meeting the board, at the request of the Lake Steering Council and the village Park Commission, considered prohibiting trailer mounted, drive-in launches at the site.

The village also will be enforcing parking regulations along Musial Road that sometimes are violated by people launching there.

“There are existing parking prohibitions there,” said Cox. “As the season progresses, the village will enforce those parking regulations.”

The daily launch fee at either location is $7.
