Summer school will be the topic of a special meeting of the Wheatland School Board tonight.
The board is trying to figure out how to overcome a projected $20,000 shortfall in funding for the program in its current form, said Scott Huth, district administrator.
Alternatives might include charging more for summer school, Huth said.
In the past, most classes, unless they are materials intensive, have cost $5 per student per class. Summer school in Wheatland in the past has typically been four days a week for five weeks. Classes to choose from have included remedial math and reading, a getting ready for kindergarten class as well as various enrichment courses such as cooking and art.
