Sandra Swanson lays back and relaxes while giving blood at Salem School Friday. The drive collected 23 units of blood.
Some 69 people will be very glad that Salem School had a Blood Center of Wisconsin blood drive last week.
That because 23 units were collected and unit of blood collected goes to help three people, says Jennifer Meier, one of the organizers of the drive and a teacher at the school.
In all, 33 people wanted to donate blood. But 10 were turned away because of low iron or illness, Meier said.
Would you like to give blood but missed the Salem School drive? You have another opportunity this week.
Central High School’s Student Council is sponsoring a Blood Center of Wisconsin blood drive at the school this Tuesday, April 28, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., in the gym.
