Bristol bike safety deemed success despite rain

The rain likely cut down the number of people who decided to ride their two-wheelers out to Bristol School this morning for the town’s first ever bike safety day and registration.

But despite the less than perfect pedaling weather, the town had registered some 20 bikes before the first hours was up, public safety Officer Mark Niederer said.

“We’ll have it again next spring,” Niederer  said, undaunted by the misfortune of the wet weather.

This was the town’s first effort at such an event. It included bike inspections by Southport Rigging of Kenosha, a rodeo course and free bike registration with the town, which could assist in returning a bike if it “went missing, Niederer  said.

When the rain came, the bike safety day folks were glad they had set up under an awning at Bristol School.
