The National Weather Service has issued a flood warning for the Fox River in Kenosha County. Their forecast calls for the river to “rise above flood stage by this morning and continue to rise to near 11.2 feet by Friday early afternoon. The river will fall below flood stage by Monday afternoon.”
For reference, the record flood height for the Fox at New Munster is 15.18 feet on May 5 of last year. Still the NWS says a height of 11 feet brings water over 77th Street in Wheatland.
In general, the NWS is calling for “scattered flurries before 7 a.m. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 48. Breezy, with a west wind between 15 and 20 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph. Tonight: A chance of rain and snow after 1 a.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 32. West wind between 5 and 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent.”
